    I found out about this because I am subscribed to Eric Church’s RSS feeds for his upcoming tour dates. When I saw he would be playing Raleigh at TWC this summer, I clicked through to see who he was with. The Country Throwdown Tour is DEFINITELY on my calendar!

    May 27th in Charlotte, May 28th here Raleigh!

  • I Wish…

    …concert dates were release well before their on-sale dates so I could save up money for tickets!

    For instance, I’d LOVE to see Clapton on March 8th. Will I have the money for tickets to be purchased in 4 days from today? Not with the fees, that’s for sure. Do I think it’s worth putting it on my credit card? Nope.

    At least the two shows I HAVE to see in 2010 were announced welllll ahead of time.

  • So THAT’S How Much They Are…

    I ran into Well I Do Declare while a few members of the Y.E.S! exec board and I were doing some planning during Happy Hour(s) at Fosters tonight and she asked me if I had ever found out how much the Megatickets are this year.

    Well, no, I hadn’t seen/heard the prices anywhere, but we finally got a postcard in the mail today (and I mean finally – the presale DID start today after all) with our renewal code.

    They are $179.00 for the renewal, $30.95 for the fee, and that makes them $209.95 total. It’s $34.99 per show for 6 shows. If it was JUST that, I’d probably buy them. But it’s darn near impossible to coordinate a tailgate for less than $50 (ice, booze, food, grilling supplies).

    Oh what to do, what to do!

    I love that George Strait (aka: THE MAN) is on the schedule, but I’ve seen Toby, Rascal and Kenny every year for the last few and they don’t change that much.

    To be totally honest, Kenny’s show was no good last year. Loved him and loved the pirates theme, but the mics were screwy and it sounded like crap on the half-empty lawn.

    As Lisa S. wrote in a MySpace post today, “it is expensive being me”. Amen, sister!

  • 3 Doors Down = Cancelled Completely

    Local 3 Doors Down fans just can’t catch a break this week:

    Dear Live Nation Tickets Customer,

    It was announced today that 3 Doors Down’s performance at Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek – Raleigh, NC that was previously postponed has now been cancelled.

    Refunds of the face value of the ticket[s] and the per ticket convenience charge[s] will automatically be processed to the credit card used at the time of purchase. This refund will appear on your next credit card statement depending upon billing cycle. There is no need to return any tickets you may have received in the mail.

    The band hopes to reschedule performances in the region, so please keep checking the band’s website as well as livenation.com.

    Out of all the shows I’ve seen at Walnut Creek (including each and every time they’ve returned), 3 Doors Down has always been my favorite – even over Kenny Chesney. What a let down.

    Major bummer:

    Dear Live Nation Tickets Customer,

    We have been informed by Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek that 3 DOORS DOWN on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 has been postponed. At this time, no new date has been scheduled. When the new date is scheduled, we will notify you and you can expect that the tickets you have in your possession will be honored on the new date. At that time, you will also be given an opportunity to request a refund if you are unable to attend the new date.

    Heartbreaking.

    I was SO looking forward to it. Hopefully it’ll be rescheduled for a very, very soon date… I don’t do cold unless it’s on the side of a mountain with lots of layers made of Under Armour and North Face (or you know – into Lake Raleigh in a Pi Phi shirt for a great cause).

  • What a Let Down…

    So my previous post on how Live Nation > Ticketbastards… maybe not so much.

    I go to buy my $10 Journey and Three Doors Down tickets just a few moments ago and this is what I was faced with, once I got through the hype:

    9/16/08 6:00 PM 3 DOORS DOWN LAWN L18 117 $10.00 Parking Fee $6.00
    Convenience Fee $4.45
    		 $20.45

    Are you kidding me?

    Parking is $6.00/person (NOT VEHICLE!) for a gravel lot that is manned by the biggest douche-baggery staff I’ve ever met? No thank you.

    Since when is it appropriate to charge more than double with “applicable fees”? That sounds VERY Ticketmaster-ish to me (just google “ticketbastards” to find so many other who also hate the ticketing monopoly).

    I have been fairly impresed with the significantly higher level of service provided by Live Nation. I do however, continue to be harassed by the parking nazis at Walnut Creek… tailgate after tailgate and would prefer not to keep them employed.

    Time to mull over how much I hate this – enough to pay double in fees? Am I really saving anything or was this just a clever marketing ploy that caught even Little Miss Marketing herself captive?
