    I mean, what sounds better for a Monday night?

    SO pumped that I’ll be back from Vegas (leaving Thursday AM out of Charlotte!) in time for this! I haven’t been back to the Brewpub since the first time Nick, Adrianne, Joey, and I tried it just after opening, so this is a great reason for me to return. (And give them a chance to recapture me as a customer. The lackluster service, boring food, and scant beverage selection for the non-beer drinker didn’t do it for me last time.)

    I’m all about a second chance though! (The first few weeks can be awkward for a new establishment with a new staff.)

    Here’s the map, for anyone who may not be familiar with the area that I drive past multiple times a day. I know, I’m a lucky girl.

  • It’s Time to Paaaaaarty!

    I hope everyone (well, at least those of you locals who it’s feasible for) will come celebrate the opening of Sauced Pizza with me tomorrow!

    This is another of the many distractions that’s kept me from blogging much lately, but boy it’s a delicious one. Between the pizza by the slice, the caprese salads, and the Hayes Barton Dessertery desserts… you’re going to be lookin’ at one chubby girl here before too long. (Not because any of it is particularly bad on its own, but it’s the fact that I have no desire to go anywhere other than Sauced Pizza, lately. Hah!)

    The New York-style pizza restaurant / NC pub has been open for about a week now (benefiting from working out some of the early opening kinks – a “soft opening”), but tomorrow is the official grand opening party. Come anytime, it’s open until 3am on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights… so the party will go on as long as folks want to stay!

  • A Different Breed of Fundraising

    As many of you long-time readers know, I’m already a big fan of Amra’s and their other establishment, Tobacco Road. This is SUCH a very cool event they’re hosting this week.

    I have some other commitments on Thursday (that post coming soon), but if I’m able to do both, this is totally making my to-do list:

    The charity organization called Wine to Water, as seen on Larry King, raises funds through wine tastings to be able to help 3rd world countries find healthy clean drinking water sources for their villages.

    On Thursday July 23, come to Amra’s after work or around 6:30 to help support this awesome and worthy cause!

    • There will be free wine. (Yes, a full tasting and free full glasses, too.)
    • There will be free light appetizers.
    • There is no cover charge, no ticket price and no suggested donation.
    • There may be a silent auction.
    • There will be friends new and old.
    • The event will last 2 or 3 hours.
    • Stay as long as you’d like.
    • And feel free to bring people with you!

    Wine To Water is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit aid organization focused on providing clean water to needy people around the world.   • Zac Brown Band in Raleigh this Weekend!

    If you’ve been around since October 2008, you’ve probably seen one or two of my posts about ZBB – including the original.

    While I’m bummed that it wasn’t my handiwork that brought them to my beloved Raleighwood (not without effort – I tried, but other forces who don’t know any better stood in the way), the Lincoln Theatre has (LOVE them though, so I’m glad it’s them) for a block party this Sunday.

    Johnny Orr & the South Station Band and Coastline Band (both are great NC groups!) will also be parts of this cool event. Tickets are only $20 in advance, $25 day of.

  • Did You Get JMC’s New Album Yesterday?

    I did! And I got five at Best Buy (for everyone in the family who hasn’t hopped on the iPod bandwagon).

    The girl at the store looked at me a little funny and then said “I’ve heard some of his stuff… I like him!”

    That’s what I thought. 😉

    I had the chance to hear the whole album last week on iLike before it officially was in stores – and I liked it then – but listening to it in the car with the windows down, sunroof open, on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon… 100 times better! I’ve been rockin’ ever since.

    And since I’m convinced you all will love it too, I’m giving two of you a chance to do it for free!

  • You Hungry?

    I bet you will be after checking out all of the great happenings for Triangle Restaurant Week 2009!

    It is no secret that I love going out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s not that I’m not a bad cook – I’m actually pretty good when I have time, but there are so many great restaurants around here, plus… I just love the whole experience since it’s usually a group affair.

  • Growing Up is Getting Old

    Want to know what’s kept me so busy lately? Among other things, helping one of my favorite non-profits put together a FANTASTIC event happening here in Raleigh on May 2nd.

    Here’s the scoop:
    Bring the family out to City Limits Saloon on May 2nd as Brittany’s Battle presents “Boots, Bands & Bulls“, a benefit concert with Kevin Lee, Brian Davis and Arista recording artist Jason Michael Carroll, whose new cd, Growing up is Getting Old, comes out on April 28th!

    I have been been bouncing around the idea of starting a website or blog dedicated to being the most awesome bridesmaid you can be… ever. You know, something to the tune of “winggirls.com”.

    Why? Because I get asked questions like this on a weekly, if not daily, basis.
