  • Some Quick Raleigh Updates…

…because I’m always shocked how many of my friends actually get their updates from my local round-up of Raleigh blogs.

Goodberry’s is coming to Cameron Village – GoGoRaleigh.com
A Rooftop Carolina Ale House is coming to Glenwood South – DTRaleigh.com
Boylan Bridge Brewpub is open for business – NewRaleigh.com
I hear Foundation makes their own in-house cola… and want to try it – NewRaleigh.com
And in some previously unpublished original updates:
Tobacco Road has has added a apple/candied walnut/and some sort of cheese salad to the menu… and it’s SO good. Lisa S. and I took Cagle to lunch there on Friday – we both had it and loved it.

Friday night and Sunday afternoon Renee and I ended up at The Oxford and I had the Fried Goat Cheese salad both times. Renee had their very cool twist on the caprise salad. Both, very good, too.

  • A Different Green Post

Here’s a totally different green post for you – as in St. Patty’s green!

I enjoy the holiday and the debauchery that goes along with it, but I’ve been consistently sick the last few weeks so I didn’t do too much… well, other than celebrate my younger sister’s 21st birthday (which by the way, still blows my mind that it’s now legal for her to shop at the ABC store). I’ll have to dedicate a separate post to that momentous occasion later.

However, just because the parties from last weekend and Tuesday have passed… there’s more this weekend since last weekend had a bit (downpour) of rain.

Raleigh’s St. Patrick’s parade is today at noon – Downtown.

For those of you who are thrilled by the idea of Irish-themed events all year long… I guess this is my Merry March Christmas gift for you – a website and email list devoted to those local event (RaleighStPats.org).

  • From My Boys at Deep South and Lucky B’s…

    Coming Soon…

    Free Bar Crawl
    : Friday, March 26!

    Yay! I love it.

  • “Helloooooo Hangover”

I usually put Swagger‘s giveaways on the girly blog (all things retail, style, and trends), but this one can apply to many of you – girly or not, and it prefaces a later post on this past weekend’s really awesome Riley-Dorn wedding extravaganza.

This week’s Facebook Friday of the Week from Swagger’s facebook page is a product that has gotten rave reviews and flies out of stock: Sprayology.

Sprayology Party Relief is one of our all time most popular items – and we FINALLY have it back in! Some of our customers (you know who you are) have been begging for it!

This Party Relief is a HANGOVER REMEDY and it works like a charm – I had to test it out for you guys! 🙂 You will be seriously happy you found this product!

You can check it out here: https://www.swaggergifts.com/party-relief $24

Would have been AWESOME to have some handy yesterday and this morning. My hangover (possibly second hangover of the day) hit around 2pm while we were having breakfast at iHop. Yep, breakfast at 2pm. (I had to go retrieve my car from the Sheraton parking deck while I still had a driver and a vehicle at the townhouse before he had to go to work before I could meet the gang for breakfast.)

PS – So how did I get home? White Horse! These are my boys (because they deliver me home safely on a regular basis) and I love them. Cabs suck – get in the truck! (That should be their new tagline.)

Put the following numbers in your cell phone address book: 919-782-5893 or 888-62-HORSE (888-624-6773). You WILL thank me the next time you’d like a reliable ride home at 2am.

  • Such Cool News for Downtown Raleigh

This past weekend the R-Line* was launched. This week, NC State ties into the R-Line with WolfProwl.

Via The Howl – an email from NCSU’s Student Body President

WolfProwl – NC State’s connection to downtown Raleigh
For years, students have been seeking a way to access the incredible entertainment district that is downtown Raleigh. Starting this Thursday, WolfProwl will make that connection for thousands of NC State students.

There are already tons of online updates about R-Line, so check those out, too!

*Here’s a quick definition of the R-Line from the City of Raleigh:

“The R-Line will connect employees, residents, conventioneers and other visitors in the central business district to retail and entertainment venues, restaurants and parking. Two environmentally friendly hybrid electric buses, both with 36 seats, will be used on the route.

The R-Line will run every 10 to 15 minutes. Hours of operation for the new service will be 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 2:15 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.“

    Yay!

  • Local Rave: Alter Ego Salon

    I’m in love.

A second story Downtown location (with a view that many would kill for) and prices that make it possible to keep you looking good without having to take out a loan.

Alter Ego Salon – Mary-Taylor did my recent cut and rocked it out.

Video courtesy of the Triangle Blvd boys:

Sign up for their email newsletter (just create an account on their site), that’s how I found out about their January special which snagged me a free manicure with my haircut.

One of my favorite things about this salon may not have been the cut at all but the fact that they emailed me an appointment reminder that also included my upcoming scheduled events, including bridal updos for a friends wedding. Apparently, they speak my language (email-based and organized) 🙂

  • So Close!

Know how I mentioned my excitement and love for Brewskee-Ball before?

Well, in the interest of full disclaimer, I think it’s important to note the following: my team is no kind of good.

Second disclaimer: we’re only no kind of good when we need to be. I rolled about a billion hundos (100’s) AFTER our game just goofing off last week. Must be the high stress of having to perform when it matters.

We will not go 0-8, Rollin’ Skiiirty (mid-season name change has yet to be approved by the commish) WILL experience the sweet, sweet taste of victory this week. Promise.

Can I get a little luck for Thursday?

In other news, looks as if Skeeson 2 will be starting very soon after the conclusion of Skeeson 1.
If any of you Raleighs want to join up for the next, drop me a note!

Bring your own team or come as individuals… it doesn’t matter – it’s all about the good time, good drinks, and good people.

  • What’s Your Guilty Pleasure?

    Mark your calendars!

From skirt!Raleigh Editor, Faith Dwight’s, blog:It’s all happening Tuesday, January 13, from 5:30-7:30pm at 518 West Italian Café on Glenwood South and, as always, we’ll be benefiting a worthy cause.

This month, it’s Interact of Wake County, and we’re asking you to bring every woman’s guilty pleasure – lotions, creams, shampoos, and other pampering products – so that the women who benefit from Interact can experience a little pleasure of their own.

I haven’t been able to go since the first Skirts for Success event but I am starting the year off on the right foot – networking and contributing to a great cause!

PS – My guilty pleasure? Late-night TMZ on Sunday nights/Monday morning (seriously – like 1:00 am) before starting the week off. I’m not a tabloid follower, but TMZ is hilarious – “keeping Hollywood real since 2007“.

  • Rickshaw Confessions

A great source for all things Raleigh – NewRaleigh.com – has recently posted the first installment of Rickshaw Confessions. Think Taxicab Confessions… but Raleigh Rickshaw style.

Personally, I’d prefer some fun trivia and cash (Cash Cab style), but I think this could be interesting.

Be on the lookout for the rickshaws and take a ride sometime!
