    Man, I miss college. And I seriously miss every single one of these gorgeous ladies. This picture, ladies and gentlemen, is my senior class of the NC Delta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi.

    The only thing that’s missing? A few rockstar juniors (paging Hannah, Rach, Sesh, Sarah, Regina, Ave, Liv, and any other baller-ettes I have accidentally left off the list!).

    So, with that said, I dedicate today’s Sunday Funday to my college sisters. I love you all and I hope life is being fabulous to each and every one of you – even those of you who I do not have the pleasure of seeing regularly 🙁

    Heading to Natty Green’s in a bit with Adrianne (who I just realized is not pictured… A – where were you?) to wish Ashton (top left corner) bon voyage as she sets her sails for Italy for an extended period of her life! (Let’s wish her the best and extra luck in finding a place to live that will accommodate guests… because I’m going to visit!)

  • Accessorize with Pi Phi on Tuesday!

    In Raleigh? Ready to do a little shopping for a great cause?

    PERFECT! Come join us 🙂 Renee and I will be there all day with I Heart Retail and mark. and would love to see any of you local readers!

    LOTS of great vendors including Swagger Gifts, Beleza, Undertoad, Sassy Sorority, Cute Buttons Gift & Paper Boutique, Clothes Hound, Carolina Silver Co., and more!

    Some of my local favorites including Sono, The Oxford, and Sauced Pizza have also provided some very DELICIOUS door prizes and I have a few extra tickets if anyone would like one! (You can also buy them online for only $5.00 on Eventbrite!)

    The event is from 2pm until 8pm at The State Club on Centennial Campus. All ticket sales and 10% of vendor sales will be donated to First Book, an organization that provides books to children.

  • Calling All Region 2 Pi Phis!

    I’m super excited to see that the power and ease of use of blogging technology is making its way up the Pi Phi ladder!

    Just for you Region 2 alums (here’s the map if you need to figure out just what region you’re in), our quarterly newsletter just informed me that we have a blog for staying updated… sweet! Check out “Ring Ching” here.

  • A Few Easy Ways to Help

    I am so thankful for all the little things in life that can so often be taken for granted. I’m doubly thankful for always being surrounding (in college and out of college) by so many giving individuals, groups, and organizations!

    Here are a few ways some of the NCSU Greek Life houses are making local contributions this week:

    Pi Beta Phi
    Our national philanthropy is literacy and the NC Delta chapter is holding a book drive this week to distribute among local partners that are making great strides in improving literacy in our community.

    Any and all donations are welcome and will be accepted at the Pi Beta Phi house on Greek Court after this weekend’s holiday break. (I’ll be glad to pick up any donations from anyone in the area and deliver them, if needed!)

    FIJI
    The brothers of Phi Gamma Delta are holding a first-year event, Fiji’s “Kill the Chill” clothing drive” to benefit local homeless shelters. The event will take place Tuesday, December 2nd, in the Brickyard.

    Again, I’ll be glad to drop any donations by for anyone who can’t make it but would like to contribute.

  • If You Need a Reason to Visit Chapel Hill

    Because yes, some of us in Rah-town definitely require a good reason to do so.

    UNC’s Pi Phi 5K

    When    : Saturday Nov. 15th from 10am-11am
    Registration is at 8am and the race starts at 10am.

    Where    : UNC Chapel hill

    What    : The Eve Carson Memorial 5k for Education is a race through the UNC campus in memory of former student body president Eve Carson. Proceeds from this event will benefit the following educational causes: The Eve Marie Carson Memorial Junior-Year Merit Scholarship, First Book, Clyde Erwin Elementary School in Onslow County.

    Registration is $15 and includes a shirt.

    Totally worth the drive. (Even more so if you’re already close to Chapel Hill!)

  • What Book Got YOU Hooked?

    For me, it wasn’t just one book – it was so many books that I was a fan of growing up (southern, duh).

    My sister and I had a HUGE collection in our playroom: there was The Penguin That Hated the Cold, all of the Berenstain Bears (OMG – they have an official website… those crazy things didn’t exist when I was reading these books!), Winnie the Pooh, and so many more that were 1980’s-babies staples.

    Unfortunately, I know many children aren’t that lucky… enter: First Book.

    First Book is a campaign for literacy and for providing books to children all around the country and I am SO proud that my wonderful Pi Beta Phi is one of their partners (our national philanthropy is after all literacy!). I am in love with their blog and their What Book Got You Hooked? campaign:

    Now through September 15, readers everywhere are invited to tell us about the first book from childhood that made reading fun, then help get more kids hooked by voting for the state to receive 50,000 new books for children in need.

    A number of celebrities are supporting this year’s effort, including: Kenny Chesney, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Thompson, Edward Norton, Stephen Colbert, Ira Glass, and Barry Mannilow.

    So, what book got you hooked?

    North Carolina is 27th in the rankings right now for 50,000 new books for kids who are in need, so please vote before September 15th!

    In local-ish news:
    Clearly these folks don’t know Lisa Jeffries    My $0.02? If the local media focused a little more on the “sparingly available” good news and less on the gangster-wannabes that we’re allowing to take over our AMAZING community… then maybe ranking lists like that referenced in the news would have more evidence to support a higher ranking in the next go around. But I know, I know… that doesn’t sell ratings.

    I’m just sayin’…

  • Calling All eBay-ers!

    My beloved sorority (actually, ahem, Fraternity for Women), Pi Beta Phi, has teamed up with First Book to provide books to children everywhere – helping to promote one of the most important life skills of all – literacy.

    I am so impressed by the work being done by First Book, based out of Washington, D.C. and really hope that any of you who will be doing any eBay (selling or buying!) transactions will please think of the following when doing so!

    First Book and eBay Harness the Power of MANY!

    We are thrilled to announce that First Book is joining forces with eBay Foundation for Community Gives – the first online giving campaign designed to engage the eBay Community in supporting First Book’s work.

    First Book is one of only three organizations eBay Foundation has chosen to support as part of the campaign, which was launched Monday with a $1 million grant split evenly among the three. Visitors to the site are encouraged to buy, sell or donate on behalf of First Book.

    You can help! Do you have something you were ready to put in the garage sale pile? Sell it on eBay on behalf of First Book — you set the portion to benefit the charity. Or make a donation for as little as $1; for every person who gives to First Book, eBay will give an additional dollar. (Be sure to select First Book.)
